About Us

Established in 1998

Noosa Health Centres (Sunrise Beach Medical Centre and Mt Coolum Medical Centre) were founded in 1998 by Dr Richard Heath, a well-known local GP who commenced procedural practice in 1991 in Noosa Junction. Dr Heath saw a need for residents to have more convenient access to health care in their local area.

Noosa Health currently employs staff members comprising of Doctors, Nurses, Allied Health Practitioners and Administration staff. We are always looking to expand the skillset of our staff to enable us to better support our patients and community.

All of our staff members are highly committed to the health and well-being of all patients. We believe in a holistic approach to healthcare, delivering it in a friendly and compassionate manner, which allows us us to assist the local community in a safe, effective and accessible manner.

Both practices are open form 8am – 5pm weekdays, with Mt Coolum offering Saturday services by appointment only. Both sites are located in thriving shopping centres with pharmacies, pathology and allied health services. Onsite parking is easy and accessible, with bakeries and supermarkets located next door.

Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to helping you, and those that you care for.

Richard Heath arrived back to the Sunshine Coast as a Procedural General Practitioner in February 1991. He delivered babies, undertook anaesthetics and did more than 2400 Vasectomies. He started the Noosa AH Medical Centre in 1992 which was supported by around 35 local GPs and treated more than 86,000 patients by 1998 when he became the inaugural Senior Medical Officer at the new Noosa Hospital. As Medical Director of Noosa and Mooloolaba Triathlons and Woodford Folk Festival, his procedural skills were used and taught to a generation of medical students and doctors in training until 2018

Since the 2019 he has had both health and administrative challenges (like many of us), but returns to General Practice in May, albeit having retired from procedural medicine. Specifically, Dr Heath will not treat, consult, discuss or engage with female patients about, or in relation to contraceptive devices. He will continue to see patients from his Mount Coolum Medical Centre; please make appointments by calling 54464444.
