Our billing explained

Noosa Health Centres is proud to be a mixed billing service. Billing continues to be at the discretion of the treating clinician and, as such, final payment will need to be discussed with the doctor.

Your GP will bill you according to their own fees and this can often involve a private fee. The AMA structure forms the basis of your GP’s billing policy, and their fees reflect the time that is taken and the degree of complexity in each consultation. Please also note that several of the doctors are independent service providers and may set their own fee rates.

Please note that we generally bulk bill patients who hold:

– Full pensioners concession card.

– Veterans (DVA Gold) or DVA white if your consultation pertains to your approved coverage.

– Children under 16 years old.

Where required, we are able to provide your rebate immediately back into your account.

Fee estimates can be provided at the time of booking, and your doctor will provide a quote if additional fees are payable.

Medical Centre Information

  • Open Weekdays From 8am until 5pm Saturdays 8am until Noon
  • So we can best meet your needs, please inform reception if your matter is urgent or non urgent. All staff are trained in triage and we allow for unexpected urgent medical matters.
  • If you require a long consultation for what ever reason just let reception know.
  • Patients who cancel without an adequate notification may be charged a cancellation fee

Referrals:

Our practice regularly engages with local health services; specialists, allied health and hospitals, if required your GP will provide sufficient client information on to plan and facilitate optimal care.

Noosa Health Centres offer a recall and reminder system for patients. We are committed to providing you with preventative health care, meaning notices will be given for certain immunisations, procedures and treatments.

Recalls and reminders are optional, so please let your doctor or one of our reception staff know if you would not like to be recalled or reminded.

Our practice prides itself on excellence in healthcare and offers after hours care for patients of the practice. Please call 0412714285 to be connected to the Doctor On Call.

Our practice offers home visits on a case by case basis for urgent care or end of life care. Our doctors also provide regular Nursing Home and Hostel visits for patients of the practice.

Please note that results will not be given over the phone . It is important to make a follow up appointment with your doctor to discuss your results. Our practice uses SMS reminders to recall you in the event of abnormal results . Please advise reception if you do not wish to receive recalls via text message. We are always looking to improve our practice and therefore your feedback is important to us. We have a suggestion on box at reception or alternatively you can email us with any comments or complaints. Frequently Asked Questions.

Bulk Billing means that the doctor is paid directly by Medicare, on behalf of the patient. This means that the amount paid for each medical service is the amount set by the Australian Government. Note that some consultations, such as occupational and Workcover consultations are not covered at all by Medicare and will need to be paid for privately at the time of the consultation.

Patients will be billed a fair fee for the services provided.

Generally, DVA patients, pensioners and children under 16 will be direct billed. All other patients are required to pay the full consultation fee, part of which is claimable onsite or at your local Medicare office.

Unfortunately, the amount set by the government for a consultation is insufficient to cover the costs of providing a high-quality medical service. For example, the Medicare rebate for a standard consultation is $39.95. The government provides this amount for a complex consultation lasting up to 20 minutes, and from this, the doctor pays a percentage to the practice which helps to cover the running of the practice, facilities and staffing costs. In order to continue, it is not possible to bulk bill everything.

Due to the low value that the Australian Government places on primary care and General Practictioners, as mentioned above, bulk billing doctors will often need to see more patients per hour and, as a result, may not be able to spend as much time addressing your medical needs. At Noosa Health Centres, we aim to assist the doctors to ensure that their day runs smoothly and patients needs are met, while ensuring that your experience is as pleasant as possible.

We value the doctors working from our practice and assist them to maintain a very high-quality service and, therefore, we assist the doctors in the provision of a billing service at their discretion.
